I'm working on a logo for my restaurant. We've got a sketch, but we need to clean it up and straighten it out in Photoshop and neither one of us knows how. For someone more experienced, how long would it take to make this sketch look more professional-looking with the colors, to straighten out the letters and make them symmetrical (in the shape of an arrow, and with the Os and Ts being the same) and to make the lines straight on the "pockets" of the letter B? And also to rotate the Z so that it doesn't look like an N - the guy that drew this kept arbitrarily changing things trying to be creative when all we really wanted him to do was make a digital version that looked like clip art. Can anyone help?

It wouldn't take too long. I can do it in Illustrator with pen tool and a few effects. I'm not sure what you mean by 'in the shape of an arrow' though. I need more stuff like this to add to my portfolio, so I can do it if you'll elaborate on what you want done with the text.

In the shape of an arrow, I mean the "B O T" is angled up, the second T is at the top of the "arrow" standing up straight, and "O M Z" is angled down, roughly symmetrical to the other side. The "UP" should be centered underneath, the glass is the U obviously (ideally looking more complete than in this sketch) and the word is the "base" or "stem" of the arrow.

Are you dead-set on those letters or would it be alright to use a similar-style font in place of them? It'd make the arrow thing a whole lot easier.

A similar font will work as long as it's not drastically different. I want them to be blocked, you'll probably still have to draw the B though.

If you make the "T"s and the "O"s line up horizontally with each other it won't be even. It is the way that it is so it's even. You have "Bot" climbing up, "t" at the apex, and then "omz" climbing down to form the arrow. What you are suggesting, I think, is "BO" climbing up, "TT" at the apex of the arrow, and "omz" climbing down. See what I mean? It's gonna get all jacked up if you do that IMHO. The second "T" has to be at the apex alone and the letter can't line up or the logo will lose it's form.

I meant for the second T at the apex (3 letters on each side, one T at the point)

The guy that drew this is actually a complete fucking imbecile. That's another story.

The finished product will look a lot better, but I figured I'd post this and see if I'm at least on the right track. I'm not crazy about how the glass is working as the 'U' in Up. I'm working on a way to make it work better.

You're talking about the shape? That's good to go. The Ts and Os should look the same though and the most important letter is the B (it's drawn to look like a woman bending over, with pockets and a belt)

Yeah that doesn't stand out. IMHO ditch that aspect. All it does is make it look goofey because it isn't instantly recognizable. Logos should be simple and catchy. Like herpes.
